Here are some updated pictures.

Hatch was removed and replaced so that I can sand it down and fix the one corner.

Here was the project I was working on. Just wanted to install it so that I can see if the pieces are going to stay put. I'd rather find out now that they stay put than have them come off after it's been painted.

I got working on the hatch yesterday. I glassed in the bottom RH corner that was chipped off since I got the truck. Once the fiberglass work was done I was sanding it and it looked as though the piece didn't bond to the base material. So I twisted on it with my hands and pulled the chunk off that I just put on. :x Cleaned the area up better and made things rough for the re-application. I used some of the blue putty and bonded the new piece back on. Chipped the edge of the crack to get a good bond. It's in there good and solid now. Started the body work in a couple other areas also. Filling in the holes left from the Blue oval and OD badge. Once the outside is done I'm going to flip it around and start patching on the inside and see if I can pull a wire for the new License plate lamp that is on the way.

Just for giggles I sent a couple pictures to Bronco Driver. I had talked to the editor John before and he was somewhat interested in the truck but that was 2 years ago when I was in the readers rides section.

He flipped out when he saw it and asked for a writeup and some high rez pictures and will be added as an article. I've already sent the writeup and need to get some good pictures. I'll get a bunch on the weekend and I'll post them up and let you guys vote on which ones I send. :-D . I so want to get a picture of the truck with some air under the tires.

Couple things to bring this thread back up to date.

During the christmas hollidays I swapped out the 4.0L for a bone stock engine that runs like a top.

I've also rebuilt the trans with new bearings and new syncros.

I've also replaced the fuel tank with a New tank. I didn't want to piss around with another used tank. I've replaced the tank once before and it developed a leak also. No more fuel leaks and I can fill the tank to the top once more.

Over the winter the latch on the spare tire carrier took a beating and the rust got the better of it. I ended up splitting the handle. So I fabricated a new one along with a lock tube for the hatch struts. (Don't worry Mattie I'm still going to make you one).

This past weekend I gave the Bronco a bit more love. The cooling system got a revamp. The rad was leaking at the tanks and the thermostat I had installed was a 198°. It's getting warmer outside and it was having a hard time keeping below 200° on the Gauge. Again being sick of using used parts I splerged once again and got a new rad. Installed that and put a 192° t-stat in.

Everything is tickety boo right now.

Once the SCCA Super villan is together and on the road BIV will be going into the shop for a few and hopefully the last upgrades for a while.

Got a few things fixed yesterday. Some much needed TLC.

Changed out the trans mount. All the leaks I had from the trans/engine/power steering, ate away at the rubber and made it stupid soft.

Rotated the tires, and while I had the fronts off I pulled the newer pads out that hummed under braking. Yes they all had the thin steel sleave. The anti vibe plate. Put the old ones back on.

Rebuilt the rear driveshaft. The cardian joint was sloppy as I didn't have new joints to put in it, when I rebuilt the trans. I did puck up 3 new joints since and have had them on hand for atleast 5-6 weeks now.

Checked some fluids and lowered the trans down. I added a couple washers under the mounts to raise the back of the trans up. When I rebuilt the trans I noticed as I was pulling the t-case that I had 1/4" between the t-case and the skid plate. I raised it up about 3/4" when I put it all back together. I have dropped it down now to where I have about 3/8" clearance and see if that helps. Up high made the muffler hit the top of the frame rail and with the loose bushing the trans would lift and the top cover would hit the trans tunnel.

We'll see how much was fixed ont eh ride to work. Will report back in about 1 Hour.

........

Rattle is gone. Hum from brakes is still there but not as bad. May just need to take some sand paper to the rotors and pads.

Started collecting parts for suspension upgrades. Picked up a set of Fox 2.0 x 10" shocks for the rear. Once I figure out a good baseline valving I'll order some valve shims to start tuning.

Rear is going to get reworked before the new shocks go in. Explorer axle will get geared to 4.10's and either locker will go back in or I'll spool it like the current one is. Shocks will go on top pf spring pads and will need to build a cage in the cargo area, along with punching holes in the floor for shocks to go through. Sway bar and limit straps will go on also to maximize the travel.

Looking at getting a pair of Fox 2.0 x 14" resevoir shocks for the front to replace the quad setup. when this gets done the D44 TTB will go in. My D44 conversion brackets will be used and the TTB will get a cut a turn to get the alignment into specs. Prolly get rid of the Superrunner linkage and go with a swingset type to better match the new front setup.

In order for these mods to start I need to get the SCCA ranger done and on the road so I have a Daily driver while the Bronco is down.
