OK Fellas. I may have found the front springs I want to use. They would be the old Jeff Bronco Graveyard Superflex coils. They are listed for the 78-79 F150/Broncos with a 6" lift. These are the older ones that have a spring rate of 200 lb/in and are 26" free length. Made by Deaver.

I need atleast 24" free to get me into the 18" travel mark.

Here is how I see it.

Currently my coils sit at 17.25" loaded, I also have a 1" spacer under the coil. This gives me the height I need but I could afford to go another 1/2" to keep things in check, as the truck sits a bit /---\ right now.

So in total if I was to get close to 18.75" loaded coil height I should be sitting right about where I need to be.

My WH coils are 21.5" free - 17.25" loaded = 4.25" squish

4.25 x 350 (Estimated spring rate) = 1487.5

Now lets work backwards with the 6" lift coils.

1487.5 / 200 (Estimated spring rate) 7.44 Squish is what I should see.

26" free - 7.44" Squish = 18.5" Loaded.

As per the numbers I think I should be fine.

Just need to get tehm to make sure all is well. Stay tuned for these updates.

Here is a shot of the Superflex coils next to a 4" lift F150 TTB coil.

I count 15 3/4 loops.

The 5.5" coils I have I count 14.5

Image

This is 1.25 coils difference.

So it will effect the uptravel some. I couldn't colapse the 5.5" coil completely with teh spring rate that they are but with the softer rate I may be able to do it.

But for droop the new coils will give me an extra 4.5" downtravel. This is big numbers for TTB.

All this should get me into the 18-20" travel range.

Hows that for maximising the Stock TTB beams?

It's been a learning experience that is for sure. I've even thought of building another for a DD. A 2.3T would be killer in a lowered 2wd.

I'm wondering what would work better for me... the 5.5" or taller BII Duff / WH coils for my axle swap (D44 Early Bronco) up front or just all Early Bronco suspension parts, minus maybe the coil buckets or anything else I'd have to fabricate. Lookin' good, Joel... definitely a lot of tips and lessons learned for others reading!

Taki into consideration that the 6" Skyjacker RBV coils sit loaded at around 15" on an RBV. The 5.5" WH coils sit at about 17.5".

The 3.5" WH coils would better suit an RBV wanting to keep about 4-5" lift with the stock RBV buckets. Remember mine are the F150 buckets and are 3" taller than the RBV ones.

The 5.5" WH coils on an RBV with stock buckets will be around a 7-8" lift coil.

So, given the fact that a D44 coil perches even with the same size wheel/tire combo I have right now will be higher than a stock D28 or D35, or so I am thinking (one of the SAS write-ups I saw went from a 4" Skyjacker RBV lift to Duff 3.5" coils and ended up with 7-8" of lift, so that is my line of thinking, but I could be wrong...), I could probably get away with a 2.5" or 3.5" Early Bronco lift kit to clear 33s... probably leaning more towards the 3.5" E.B. lift. Thanks for the info, Joel. I wasn't sure if the RBV suspension parts would be suitable, or I should say, I didn't think they would be. Again, thanks!

:x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x

I had two deals going for those blasted coils and both of them are not going to happen.

One guy won't ship to Canada, It would cost me about the same price as new ones to get those ones from him. The other guy was willing to ship but wouldn't come down in price. Would of cost me more than new.

Well guy two I tried to get ahold of to see if he would take my offer, and then he gets back to me today saying he already sold them........................................ :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x

Guess I'll just have to wait some more.
